A Kindle dashboard for AI usage — build photo from the creator’s source

What the hardware does

A jailbroken Kindle wakes on a schedule, downloads a dashboard from a host computer and keeps the last image visible on its e-paper screen while asleep.

How the agent helped

The creator credits Codex with the jailbreak and setup workflow, including compatibility checks, dashboard configuration, framebuffer rendering and scheduled wake-and-sleep behavior.

Before you build

Requires firmware-compatible jailbreak, FBInk and a host server. Do not interpret API-equivalent costs as billed subscription spend.

Uses the Kindle’s own display and battery. No separate e-paper panel is needed; framebuffer dimensions and jailbreak method are generation-specific.

Confirm before buying

  • Original KT3 hardware is now identified, but an exact used unit with eligible firmware is not verified. A seller must disclose firmware/serial details before purchase.
  • Check framebuffer rotation and FBInk on the actual unit. Older Kindles may require 2.4 GHz WPA2 rather than 5 GHz or WPA3-only networking.

Quantities are for one build. Unless marked source-specified, they are planning quantities; confirm kit contents and the chosen configuration before ordering.

    Kindle KT3 — original 600×800 deployment

    E-paper dashboard.

The maintainer’s setup guide identifies the original KT3 deployment and 600×800 framebuffer. Before purchase record the exact model, first eight serial characters, firmware and jailbreak state, then check the linked compatibility wizard. KT3 identification does not make arbitrary firmware safe to jailbreak.
